Privacy notice
This explains what happens to the details you send us through this website. It is written to be read, not to cover us. If anything here is unclear, ask and we will explain it.

Who is responsible for your information
Shropshire Drainage is the data controller for the information collected through this site. You can reach us at contact@shropshiredrainage.co.uk or on 01743 562954.
What we collect
Only what the enquiry form asks for. When you send an enquiry we receive:
- your name
- your phone number
- your postcode
- the service you selected
- your message, if you write one
- which page of the site you sent the enquiry from
We do not ask for your email address, and there is no account to create. The message box is free text, so please do not put anything in it you would not want passed on to the contractor who does the work. A description of the problem is all we need.
Like any website, ours is served by a host (Cloudflare) that processes visitors' IP addresses in order to deliver pages and block attacks. We do not use that information to identify you and we do not keep our own copy of it.
Why we hold it, and on what basis
We use your details to answer your enquiry: to come back to you about the problem and, where a local contractor covers your area, to put the two of you in touch so they can quote you. Under UK GDPR our lawful basis is Article 6(1)(b), taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. If you ask us a question without wanting a quote, the basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services.
We do not sell your details, and we do not add you to a marketing list. If we ever wanted to market to you we would ask first, separately.
Who else sees it
This site puts people who need drainage work in touch with contractors who do it. Where a suitably qualified drainage contractor covers your area, your enquiry is passed to them so they can contact you about the job. Where there is no good match for your job, it is not passed to anyone and we will tell you so. If you would rather know who the contractor is before anything is passed on, say so in your message or call us instead.
We also rely on two service providers to handle the enquiry itself:
- Resend delivers the enquiry to us by email.
- Google Sheets holds a dated log of enquiries received, so we can see how many the site produces and make sure none were missed.
Both are based in the United States, so your details are transferred outside the UK. Those transfers are covered by the safeguards UK law requires for international transfers: the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or standard contractual clauses in the provider's terms. Beyond these, we share your details only if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your enquiry while we are dealing with it and for up to 12 months afterwards, so we still have the history if you come back to us about the same job or a problem with work already done. After that it is deleted from the enquiry log. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we will, unless we need it for a live job or a legal reason.
Once the personal detail is gone we keep a count of how many enquiries the site received and for which services. That is a record of how the website performs and it identifies nobody.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. There is nothing to opt into and no banner to dismiss. If that changes we will ask for your consent first, and this page will say so.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to us holding it. You can also ask for it in a portable form. Email contact@shropshiredrainage.co.uk and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
Changes to this notice
If how we handle enquiries changes, whether a new contractor, a different provider or anything that affects where your details go, we update this page and change the date at the top.
